Day 1: Marrakech
Your Morocco travel adventure begins when you arrive at Marrakech Airport, are met by your Berber Treasures driver guide. Afternoon introduction to Marrakech including the old French colonial district of Ville Nouvelle and Majorelle Garden. Tonight you stay in one of the atmospheric Marrakech riads. Day 2: Marrakech
Full-day city tour of Marrakech with your expert local Marrakech travel guide. Your heritage tour of Marrakech explores the city’s stunning past and allows you to immerse yourself in sights, sounds and smells of this captivating city including Marrakech’s UNESCO world heritage designated old walled medina, La Bahia Palace, Ben Youssef Madrassa, Koutoubia Mosque, the Saadian tombs, Place Djemaa El-Fna Square with it magicians, story tellers and snake charmers and Marrakech’s famous souks and markets. Day 3: Marrakech – High Atlas Mountains – Ait Benhaddou – Ouarzazate
Leaving Marrakech travel into the heart of the High Atlas Mountains and cross the Tizi n’Tichka mountain pass (2260 m) to the Sahara Desert of Morocco. Here you can imagine the days when the Berber nomads and their camel caravans plied the ancient trade routes as your Morocco travel adventure takes you to your first desert destination, Morocco ‘s unforgettable UNESCO world heritage designate ksar village of Ait Benhaddou comprised of many of Morocco’s best preserved fortified mud kasbah castles – a must on all Morocco travel itineraries to the Sahara Desert. This incredible area has featured in films including Gladiator and Lawrence of Arabia. Then it is on to the oasis town of Ouarzazate. Situated on the cross roads of ancient desert caravan trade routes, the spectacular contrast of desert plains and soaring snow capped mountains has made Ouarzazate the movie making capital of Morocco. Day 4: Ouarzazate – D’raa Valley & Oasis – Zagora
Your Morocco tours desert adventure takes you south to lush Draa Valley oasis. Explore the extensive palm groves and small Berber villages along the D’raa River as it winds its way to the oasis town of Zagora, famously 52 days by camel caravan to Timbuktu. From here you will visit the tiny village of Tamgroute with its incredible library filled with medieval manuscripts. Overnight in Zagora area kasbah. (Breakfast)
Day 5: Zagora – Merzouga (Erg Chebbi)
Your route through the desert of Morocco travel s via small desert kasbah villages and past the rugged Jbel Saghro Mountains to the small desert Berber village of Merzouga situated on the edge of the spectacular Erg Chebbi sand dunes of Morocco’s Sahara Desert. Overnight in Merzouga area kasbah. (Breakfast & Dinner)
Day 6: Erg Chebbi Villages & Deluxe Erg Chebbi Desert Camp
Morning visit to the Merzouga oasis and village area. The Berber of this area are nomad familes, some still live the traditional nomad lifestyle. After relaxing at your desert kasbah, in the late afternoon you travel by a 4-wheel drive vehicle to your Morocco deluxe desert camp peacefully located in the eastern wilderness preserved section of the spectacular Erg Chebbi sand dunes. From the camp your local Berber guide will led you on a desert camel ride into the Erg Chebbi sand dunes to watch the sun setting over the magnificent desert landscape or choose to enjoy the sunset from the camp if you don’t wish to take the camel ride. Tonight is spent camping under the stars in a deluxe Berber tent with private ensuite at your desert camp in the heart of the Moroccan Sahara Desert – a highlight of Morocco desert tours. Day 7: Merzouga – Erfoud – Todra Gorge & Oasis (High Atlas Mountains) – Dades Gorge (High Atlas Mountains)
You can rise early to watch the sunrise over the desert. Next your Morocco desert adventure takes you to the desert market village of Rissani and visits the fossil area near Erfoud before your Morocco tours route turns westward and takes you through the incredible Moroccan desert area situated between the soaring High Atlas Mountains and rugged Jbel Saghro Mountains. Visit the beautiful Todra and Dades Gorges and oasis areas with their Berber kasbahs, fig and almond orchards, date palm groves and unique rock formations. Overnight Dades Gorge area kasbah. Day 8: Dades Gorge – Road of a Thousand Kasbahs – Skoura – High Atlas Mountains – Marrakech
Leaving Dades Gorge make your way along the Road of a Thousand Kasbahs through Roses Valley to the beautiful oasis village of Skoura where you can find historic old mud kasbahs set among the date palm and almond groves. Farewelling this incredible desert kasbah and mountain gorges area of Morocco you return to Marrakech. Overnight in Marrakech riad. (Breakfast)
Day 9: Marrakech
Your Morocco travel adventure comes to a close with your transfer to Marrakech Airport. Tour ends. (Breakfast)
