MOROCCO TOUR 12 (CE12) ITINERARY – KINGDOM OF MARRAKECH

Day 1: Casablanca

Your Kingdom of Marrakech tours itinerary begins when you arrive at Casablanca Airport and are welcomed to fascinating Morocco by your Berber Treasures driver and transferred to your hotel. This afternoon your city tour of Casablanca introduces you this famous city’s principal sights including the impressive Hassan II Mosque, La Cornich and Mohammed V Square. Overnight in Casablanca hotel.

Today your holiday in Morocco tours the historic north Atlantic coast.  Your first stop is the imperial city of Rabat, the capital of the Kingdom and a UNESCO world heritage site. Exploring the city’s ancient heritage your Rabat tours  itinerary includes Oudaya Kasbah, the Hassan Tower, the Mohammed V Mausoleum, the Royal Palace (Mechouar) and, if time permits, the Necropolis of Chellah, situated in the ruins of the Roman town of Sala Collonia.  Your Morocco travel takes you along the length of the Morocco’s north Atlantic coast to the beautiful little historic port of Asilah with its Portuguese colonial fortifications and pirate past.   Overnight in Asilah hotel. Day 3: Asilah – TangierTetouanChefchaouen

From the Atlantic you turn onto the Mediterranean coast and head to the ancient city of Tangier, an important port town in the days of the camel caravans. In Tangier your Moroccan travel adventure begins tracing some of the overland old camel caravan routes and towns. After an orientation tour of Tangier visiting the principal sights, you head south travelling via UNESCO world heritage Tetouan into the Rif Mountains to the beautiful blue town of Chefchaouen. This morning your Morocco tours first destination is the ancient Roman town of Volubilis, a UNESCO world heritage site. Explore the ancient Roman buildings and enjoy the marvellous mosaics. Your route travels to your Morocco holidays ’ first Moroccan imperial city, the UNESCO  world heritage Meknes. Discover the sights including Bab el Mansour and Agdal Basin. Continue on to Fez – one of the great medieval trade capitals of the world and a UNESCO world heritage site. Here you stay in one of the lovely Fez riads. Overnight in Fez riad. (Breakfast)

Day 5: Fez

Full-day heritage tour of Fez, with your expert local Fez travel guide. Your Fez tours ’ highlights include the historical monuments, bazaars and souks of the UNESCO designated world heritage old walled medina’s 14th century Madrasa Bou Inania, the Kairaouine Mosque and old merchant fondouks from the days of the camel caravans, ancient leather tanneries, Royal Palace Dar el Makhzen , Bab Dekakene and the Mellah – the old Moroccan Jewish heritage quarter. You travel to Morocco ’s Middle Atlas Mountain towns of Ifrane and Azrou, continue south through Midelt, cross the High Atlas Mountains, follow the Ziz River through the Ziz Gorge and into the Sahara Desert of Morocco to Merzouga, a small desert Berber village situated at the foot of the spectacular Erg Chebbi Sahara Desert sand dunes. Overnight in Merzouga area traditional kasbah. (Breakfast & Dinner)

Day 7: Erg Chebbi Desert Villages & Deluxe Desert Camp

This morning your Kingdom of Marrakech tours  itinerary focuses on the culture of the desert Berber people including a visit of the Merzouga oasis and village area, the home territory of the Berber nomad “blue men”.  In the late afternoon your Morocco holidays immerse you in the cultural heritage of the desert Berber nomads.  Traveling by a 4-wheel drive vehicle you arrive to your Morocco deluxe camp peacefully located in the eastern wilderness preserved section of the spectacular Erg Chebbi sand dunes.   Here can glimpse the past days of the Berber camel caravans joining your sunset camel train ride led by your local Berber guide or you can choose to relax at your Morocco deluxe camp Berber tent camp.  Overnight camping in deluxe Berber tents  at Erg Chebbi Morocco deluxe camp. Day 9: Zagora – Tamgroute – D’raa ValleyOuarzazate

Today your holidays in Morocco travel along old merchant camel caravan trade routes to the spectacular UNESCO world heritage kasbah village of Ait Benhaddou and then through the Ounila Valley into the soaring High Atlas Mountains.  Your path through the High Atlas Mountains of Morocco travel s past old medieval merchant settlements, through Teloute and crosses the Tizi n’Tichka High Atlas Mountain pass.
